    Helen Louise French De Tar
The following is from Norman Davies, who credits art historian Edan Hughes:
Helen Louise French was born in Ohio on September 2, 1905. In 1941, she settled in Glendale, California where she was director of Max Weil Pottery while studying with William F. Foster. In 1946, she married John A. De Tar and established the De Tar Studio in Los Angeles, specializing in various decorative items. During her last ten years she lived in Seal Beach, California, where she was active in the local art scene and received accolades for her work. In addition to her hand painted plates and other decorative items she is also known for her landscape and still life art which can be found on auction sites and galleries. De Tar died in 1988.
